My NBA Fantasy Season Review: Insights and Mistakes (2024/25)

The season has just ended and I’m here to share my rankings in https://nbafantasy.nba.com. Before starting, let me enumerate some excuses:

  • At the beginning, I didn’t know how the captain chip worked, and I chose Jokic as my captain for the first day of gameweek 1. This made me lose at least a hundred total points. That’s a noob move…

  • It was my first year and I made some selections I’m not proud of – shoutout to Noah Clowney, I don’t know why I trusted you.
  • I also selected, as most managers, Zach Edey, which cost me a few points and also a weekly trade to get rid of him.

After excusing myself, I would love you to share your results in the comments! What was your favorite player from this year or your favorite gameday in total points? Here I will show you…

My results

Global leagues results for the 2024/25 NBA season

I finished 23th overall in Spain, which I consider a good result, but it could have been better if I knew how to manage these last gamedays. Not taking into account that most of the good players wouldn’t play the last game of the season cost me 2 ranks in this league.

My overall rank was 284, where I went more than 20 ranks down in the last gameday because of the same reason. But I’m proud that, with those mistakes, I was able to finish between the first 300 players here.

I didn’t pay much attention to the other global leagues, but I also had two private leagues from Spanish YouTube channels:

Where again, the last gameday was a huge downfall. I paid special attention to the second one which is the main channel I follow: Drafteados. Their opinions are sometimes not the most accurate, but I really recommend them if you are a Spanish speaker because of their mix between information and fun. I usually listen to them while I’m cooking or going back home from the gym.

Going back to the results, I finished 19th overall here, and I got to maintain top 20 through the whole season, which made me feel very consistent with my picks.

My fantasy data

Here are a selection of statistics I could retrieve from my season:

Best gameday

While the best gameday in overall ranking was GW11.3 (Gameweek 11 Day 3), ranking 55th overall for that day, the best gameday in total points was GW3.1 with a total of 340.5 final gameday points and 127 overall gameday ranking:

My GW11.3 team

Wemby (24/13/3 with 3 steals and 9 blocks) and Jokic (28/14/13) as the captain lead my team to a huge gameday. Also Dick, Harden and JDub did a great job by getting some fps (fantasy points).

Best gameweek

With 1429.2 points, gameweek 16 was my best week. I used the captain in GW16.3 on Jokic (38/8/10). Some facts from this week:

  • I use the Wildcard chip during GW16.7 as it was the last day to use it before resetting on GW17. This allowed me to get more points during this week.
  • Trades from this week:
    • GW16.1
      • Jaylen Wells -> Yabusele
      • Dick -> Collier
    • GW16.7
      • Mark Williams -> Diabate
      • Powell -> Cunnigham
  • The ones that didn’t rotate were:
    • Jokic
    • Kel’el Ware
    • Trey Murphy III
    • Amen Thompson (great pick from previous week)
    • Dyson Daniels
    • Maxey

Best player

I wanted to mention here Nikola Jokic. Of course you already know he’s the best fantasy pick but the captain chip just makes him even better. Every week I had to try to predict when he was going to have a crazy triple double night to give him the chip.

I just traded him in GW4.1 because of an injury, got him back in GW6.1 and kept him until last gameweek. He gave me a total of 4501.4 fps, which is a 16.8% of my total fantasy points this year. Thanks Joker.
