Indiana Pacers Profile

Team Ceiling

Play-in – A huge if… If the Pacers are all healthy and play as a team. After losing Turner and missing Haliburton for the whole season, this is their highest, highest, highest ceiling. I don’t think they will even reach it, especially seeing how the season started for them regarding injuries.

Team Floor

Nothing – Miss this year and start over next year. After their first Finals appearance since year 2000, this will most probably be an empty year for them. Year to try to keep the core of the team, develop them and other young players and wait for Tyrese’s return.

X-Factor

Bennedict Mathurin – Mathurin will have a clear path to do whatever he wants this year. A lot of people talks about him as a future superstar. He kind of reminds me of Harden, a potential to discover. But Haliburton’s injury at least benefits him and the Pacers, allowing him to show everything he’s got and what he can provide to the team. It’s his time to earn the starter spot for the future too.

Bust

Injuries – Can’t have a bust in this team. Their major issue are injuries. Essentially I can’t consider anyone a bust in a team that should be in the Championship conversation and will probably end out of the Play-in.

Dark Horse

Andrew Nembhard – Similar to Mathurin, it’s his year to prove what he is. He’s better defensively and worse offensively, and that’s why these two can work so well. Sadly, he got injured in the first game of the year. If he can play without dealing with more injuries, it’s a great time for Nembhard to improve and try to lead this team to some victories.

There’s nothing else that I can add apart from what I said. There have been some injuries during their first games that are predicting a disastrous year. Mathurin, Nembhard and Toppin are currently out. Siakam is the only one left who will try to carry this team to not be the worst team in the East.

I didn’t talk much about Aaron Nesmith but that’s because I think he has already shown what he got. He’s a great player defensively and can put up some numbers offensively some games. Basically, a great piece to complete a team, but nothing else. This year he will also have the opportunity to try to shine, especially offensively, but I don’t think he will impress no one.

Good luck to the Pacers for next year, this year is looking ugly already…
