NBA Fantasy – Week 2

Quick recap of the second week of the NBA Fantasy – Salary Cap edition. The team is starting to get its shape, but there are many adjustments to be made yet. Let’s check our current team!

Front Court

As I mentioned last week, Jaylin Williams didn’t have much time left in my team. Day 1 of Week 2: traded for Kyshawn George. He’s playing great for the Wizards and costed $7.5 to begin. He’s at $7.7 now and going up. Probably will stay for long in my team unless he gets injured.

Back Court

After Doncic’s injury, I replace him with Austin Reaves at the beggining of the week. At $13.0, he gave me great value with 64, 67 points. Now Luka is back and in his first game with him he made 36 FTPS, but he still has one game to play and was a great pick for this week.

I regret not adding VJ Edgecombe in my first lineup as there was a moment I was going to pick him. But after seeing his first few games I couldn’t let him escape. He’s on my team for good now unless George and McCain come back and steal all the usage he’s having right now. Great pick

Possible trades

Front Court

Diabate costs $6.5 and he’s not starting for the Hornets. He’s not bad, but for that price we can find very interesting players in other teams that are starting and produce more than Moussa. I have $4.4 left in my pocket so we can work with that.

Interesting picks

Depending on who I decide to replace along with Diabate, I might be interested in taking someone very cheap as Minott ($4.5) so I can get a good back court. As this year turnovers don’t have a negative impact, back courts are averaging more FPTS than front courts – except Wemby because of all his blocks.

Back Court

Still here because I didn’t trade him last week, nor the first one. He has to go.

After Luka’s come back, Reaves might not be as interesting as it was at the beginning of the week.

Interesting picks

Same as with the front courts, it depends on who we take out and how much money I’ve got. Rollins is really interesting as the starter for the Bucks and he can allow me to get another star instead of a mid player. But I still don’t trust that his consistency, but for $6.0 he’s a great bet.

Jrue is playing so well but he costs $9.0. For that price, I think it’s better to take Rollins

Maxey is also a great pick but he’s at $14.6 and I already have VJ. He’s also playing >40 minutes per game so I fear that he can get injured and then VJ takes control of the whole team.

Some key takeaways:

  • Fears has taken the starter role so he’s a great pick now at $5.5. But the Pelicans are a horrible team.
  • Diabate was expected to start but Kalkbrenner stole his spot there. We might see Kalkbrenner making it to the team in future weeks.
  • Buzelis is yet to explode, even though the Bulls are doing well. At $7.5 is a keeper for now, but he’s being monitored.

05/11 Update

As of today, here’s the roster:

  • I finally traded Dillingham for Rollins before knowing that Reaves was not playing. It might have been better to wait until knowing that because Doncic is back and the Lakers only play 3 games this week. This might have been a huge error…
  • Then, with some money left, I couldn’t find any good fit below $10.5, so I traded Diabate, to get rid of him, for Kuminga. Butler seems to be not in great physical condition and we might see him getting more relevance during this week.
    • Even though this trade didn’t convince me, it allows me to have some flexibility for future trades as I now have $1.9 left in the bank.
